Job Description/Responsibilities:

We are seeking an Associate Director of College Counseling to begin August 2017. John Doe’s college guidance counselors work closely and collaboratively to ensure that students and their families are thoroughly prepared and supported throughout the college search process. JDISG’s college guidance philosophy is about finding the right match between a student and college or university. Ultimately, the goal for every JDISG student is to gain admission to a school worthy of her intellect and aspirations. Primary responsibilities and expectations include:

• Providing strategic thinking regarding the ways in which JDISG can provide an outstanding college counseling process for student and families.

• Counseling students and partnering with families to foster a student-centered college search and application process.

• Writing letters of recommendation and providing the Secondary School Report for half the senior class.

• Maintaining and cultivating relationships with college admission officers and staying abreast of trends in higher education

• Assisting students and families in planning for standardized testing.

• Planning and coordinating parent and student education, college representative visits, and other college-related events. 

• Teaching college guidance-related lessons for the 11th and 12th Grade Human Development classes.

Minimum Degree: BA
Certification Required: Yes
Minimum Experience: 3-5 Years


The ideal candidate for this position possesses a minimum of three years of college admission experience (preferably a combination of secondary and college level), excellent written and verbal communication skills, a genuine appreciation and understanding of adolescent girls, an inclination to work collaboratively, a sense of humor, and the desire to be part of a dynamic and close-knit community. Candidates should also be committed to working with technology to support and advance the work and mission of the College Guidance Department.
